APPOINTMENT OF COMPANY SECRETARY : ADV KGOTHATSO KGANTSI

AdvThe National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Advocate Kgothatso Kgantsi as Company Secretary of the Institute.

Adv. Kgantsi is a qualified, experienced, and versatile legal practitioner with a demonstrated history of service across both the private and public sectors. She holds both an LLB and an LLM, and brings with her nineteen years of professional experience, with extensive exposure to corporate governance and public sector oversight. Originally from Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Adv. Kgantsi attributes her professional journey to the matriarchs in her family who instilled in her a deep appreciation for education and its transformative power.

Over the past decade, Adv. Kgantsi has built significant experience within the corporate governance and entity oversight environment, with fourteen years dedicated to service within the public sector. Her governance career began at the National Department of Energy, after which she further developed her oversight and governance expertise within the National Department of Transport.

In 2022, she joined the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster, where she led the National Forensic Oversight and Ethics (DNA) Board. In 2024, she was entrusted with an additional leadership responsibility as Head of the Critical Infrastructure Council, also within the JCPS Cluster, both entities reporting to the Minister of Police.

Adv. Kgantsi’s commitment to corporate governance and her dedication to supporting the work of Boards have shaped a career she is deeply passionate about and values immensely.

Her appointment to the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences reflects this commitment. She welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the continued strengthening of governance at the Institute, and to play a meaningful role in the process of re-imagining the future of the NIHSS, working alongside a Board of accomplished professionals who are deeply committed to advancing the Humanities and Social Sciences and their vital contribution to society.
